To install this software you will need all of the following:
- PC running Windows 95 or higher. Macs are not supported at this time.
- High-speed DSL or T1 internet connection.
- DB9 to DB9 cable, male to female, straight-through serial cable (non-null modem).
- If your PC is only equipped with a USB port, you’ll also need a USB to RS-232 adapter/cable.
Note: Not all USB to RS-232 adapter/cables will work. Some models have incompatible mounting hardware and cannot attach to the C 1 or C 2 RS-232 port. Some models cannot pass data at the minimum 230Kbps rate that is required to avoid damaging the C 1 or C 2. Repairs to units damaged for this reason are not covered under the Parasound Limited Warranty. Please don't use your present USB to RS-232 adapter/cable unless its maker confirms that it supports this data rate.
These USB to RS-232 adapter/cables made by Coolgear and Radio Shack are suitable:
Caution:We have not found any suitable USB to RS-232 adapter/cables from the following brands: Belkin, IOGear and KeySpan. Do not use any of these. The following report about USB to RS-232 adapters is interesting: ClearOne - A file extraction program, such as Winzip or PKzip, to unzip downloaded files and extract files.
- RS-232 cable with a three conductor 1/8" (3.5mm) mini plug; it is included with the C 1 and C 2 remotes; it is only required to modify the remote control with Discrete IR Codes for Second Zone.

Each of these large zip files contains a number of smaller files. Open the file marked Installation Instructions first, even if your unzip program doesn’t display it as the first file.

USA and Canada residents only: If your internet connection won’t permit your PC to download large files, Parasound can send the software upgrade to you on a CD-R. Please order by sending an email to service@parasound.com and print the following information:
- your full name
- mailing address
- email address
- the name of the dealer or private party where you bought your C 1 or C 2
- the unit’s five-digit serial number which is located on the bottom side of the chassis (required).
We will ship the CD-R by surface mail; please allow 7-10 working days for it to arrive. There is no charge for this service.

Would you like to have the upgrade, but you prefer not to install it by yourself?
We recommend that you contact your Parasound dealer or custom installer. He should be able to install this software upgrade or assist you with its installation.

Parasound can install the PLIIx-Lipsync Upgrade Software in your C 1 or C 2 and modify your remote control with Discrete IR codes for Second Zone. This software enables C 1 and C 2 users to configure setups via a PC and the RS-232 port. It is a zipped folder with three files, including an executable (.exe) program. All three files must be installed in the same folder for the program to work correctly. You will also need an unzip tool to open this download. Please note this is an .exe file, and your PC’s Anti-Virus software or Install Shields may interfere with its download and/or installation. Once information has been uploaded to your Halo controller using HaloSetup software. For the changes to take effect you must turn your C 1 or C 2 off with the AC Power switch on its rear panel, then turn it back on again.

This is a zipped executable (.exe) file to program your own settings for the two remote control handsets that are included with the Halo C 1 and C 2. These remotes are Parasound's custom version of the Universal Remote Control MX-700 and Sidekick.

Note: This version of MXeditor that you can download from the Parasound website is the only version that works with the Halo C 1 and C 2 remote controls. The version of MXeditor found at the Universal Remote Control website will not function correctly.
